Tobacco Addictions

The use of tobacco can cause harm to nearly every organ of the body and cause many different diseases. This can also impact people who are close to the smoker. People can easily become addicted to tobacco and it can be very challenging to quit.  These issues not only pertain to traditional tobacco products like cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobacco but also includes Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) like e-cigarettes, vapes and mods.

Symptoms of tobacco addiction may include:

  • One or more unsuccessful attempts to stop smoking or using tobacco.
  • Experiencing withdrawal symptoms when you try to stop, including physical and mood-related symptoms, such as strong cravings, anxiety, irritability, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, depressed mood, frustration, anger, increased hunger, insomnia, constipation or diarrhea.
  • Smoking/using tobacco despite health problems.
  • Giving up social or recreational activities in order to smoke/use tobacco.
